STEPHEN COVELL

Stephen Covell first began learning piano at 6 years old and picked up a guitar at 17. He has been writing and recording music ever since. A classically trained vocalist, Stephen attended the University of Arizona’s Vocal Performance program and performed with the University Symphonic Choir.

He served in the Army from 2006-2010 as a combat medic in the 82nd Airborne. Briefly accepted into the 82nd Airborne All-American Chorus, Stephen’s chain of command had other plans, and he instead deployed on two combat tours in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Stephen has contributed songs to both Operation Encore’s compilation albums, including the Volume 2 titular track “Monuments”. In addition to dozens of recorded singles, his discography includes Perfect Parade (2005), Short and Sweet (2010), Longing For the Hills (2017), and Her Cold Hands (2020). Her Cold Hands received international attention for its accompanying multi-award-winning music video featuring SMUIN Contemporary Ballet dancers John Speed Orr and Terez Dean Orr.

Aside from music, Stephen is a trained chef and illustrator and earned a degree in Creative Non-Fiction Writing from the University of San Francisco. He is currently finishing his first book, "Bring Your Gun To Work Day."
